It emphasizes theoretical knowledge, experiential learning, and entrepreneurship, and is based on competence. OSTİM Technical University embodies a culture that values skills, knowledge, behavior, and competence, reflecting a research-oriented, innovative, and development-focused higher education model. The curriculum is designed to support this model by combining theoretical knowledge with multifaceted practical approaches. Based on research conducted during its foundation and the local and international academic and sectoral experiences of the founding team and board of trustees, the OSTİMTECH Education Model includes several unique features: Applied Education Model, Entrepreneurship Scorecard, Courses That Make a Difference.

In line with its vision of being "the university of industry," OSTİM Technical University offers industry- and research-oriented education of international quality. The MIS program is specially designed to prepare students for success in professional life. It provides a high-quality educational environment enriched with the most up-to-date academic content, helping students reach their full potential. Through the MIS program, students gain problem-solving, managerial, and technical skills needed to address complex challenges, develop new business ideas, and implement technology-driven solutions.

Management Information Systems (MIS) is an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of technical disciplines (such as Computer, Software, and Industrial Engineering) and social sciences (such as Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, and Management). It emerged from industrial and market needs and focuses on managing people, technology, and information systems together. Our department offers a broad range of education, from system design and supply management to enterprise resource planning and technical fields like network and database management. A key role of MIS today is to support managerial decision-making by analyzing data collected from multiple sources in an integrated system.

MIS professionals can work in nearly all sectors of goods and services. Graduates of OSTİM Technical University’s MIS department, supported by field courses like workplace practice, training, and entrepreneurship projects, meet the managerial and IT needs of industries while enabling companies to adopt a systems-based management approach. Our department is designed to address sectoral needs with diversified strategies and a focused perspective.

MIS graduates can take on roles in both management and IT sectors. They may work as system designers, project managers, quality assurance managers, business analysts, business development specialists, or in marketing and sales. Alternatively, they may pursue IT-centric roles such as database specialists, data analysts, network system designers, IT experts, or configuration managers.

Located in a major industrial hub and founded in close cooperation with business, industry, and society, OSTİM Technical University developed a “Workplace Experience” program. Starting from the second semester of the first year, and continuing through the entire eighth semester, students participate in business placements one day per week. This allows them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings and bring industry insights back into the classroom.

In the first year, students are introduced to the foundational structure of MIS. From the second year onward, they can choose one of several career tracks and receive specialized training supported by international certifications over five semesters. In their final semester, students complete an applied internship in their chosen field, ensuring a smooth transition to the job market upon graduation.

With the slogan “Experienced Graduate,” our applied education model includes the “Workplace Experience” program, giving students practical field experience from the very first year. Students apply their general knowledge, theoretical education, skills, attitudes, and habits in a real work environment. These qualifications enhance their employability in both national and international job markets.

The language of instruction in the department is 100% English. Students who do not meet the English proficiency requirement must attend the English Preparatory Program offered by our School of Foreign Languages. New students take a Placement Test; those who score 60 or higher qualify for the English Proficiency Exam. Students who score 60 or above in this exam are exempt from the Preparatory Program. Those who do not meet the required level begin the Preparatory Program at the appropriate level.

Double major and minor programs are offered under the regulations of the Council of Higher Education regarding transitions, double majors, minors, and credit transfers among undergraduate and associate degree programs. MIS (English) students may apply for a double major or minor between the 3rd and 5th semesters by meeting the conditions set by the target departments. These opportunities are available within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and, depending on YKS scores and rankings, in other faculties as well.
